Echoes on the Lakefront

About the Book

Chicago, 1939. Eight-year-old Olaf Olsen and his friend Alice Martin live in a world of family, friendship, and ordinary childhood adventures. When their families journey east and cross the Atlantic, everything changes. A passenger ship is torpedoed in the cold North Atlantic, separating Olaf from everyone he loves. As two families struggle with loss and uncertainty across an ocean, the life of one small boy hangs in the balance. Echoes on the Lakefront is a historical story of family, friendship, grief, compassion, and the bonds that endure across distance and circumstance.
